چکیده

Multi-layer networks are computer networks where the configuration of the network can be changed dynamically at multiple layers. However, in practice, technologies at different layers may be incompatible to each other, which necessitates a careful choice of a multi-layer network model. Not much work has been done on path selection in multi-layer networks. In this paper, we describe how to represent a multi-layer network and we provide algorithms for selecting paths in them. Throughout the paper we will use examples drawn from practical experience with routing in hybrid

Verifying functional requirements in multi-layer networks: a case for formal description of computer networks

Major outages and hacks in corporate networks show that the mounting complexity in computer networks has a direct impact on business. Although users have an intuitive understanding of how they would like the network to behave, network operators lack tools to match these implicit requirements against actual infrastructure. Verification is in the stone-age, with visual tracing of diagrams and dra...

Improving Energy Consumption by Using Cluster Based Routing Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks

Multi-path is favorite alternative for sensor networks, as it provides an easy mechanism to distributetraffic, as well as considerate fault tolerance. In this paper, a new clustering based multi path routingprotocol namely ECRR (Energy efficient Cluster based Routing algorithm for improving Reliability) isproposed, which is a new routing algorithm and guarantees the achievement to required QoS ...

A Novel Approach for an Optimized Route Discovery and Packet Forwarding for Ad-hoc Networks Using Multi Rate Routing Protocol

Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) Routing is a routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and other wireless ad-hoc networks. The traditional AODV protocol cannot address to multi rate PHY communications. In this project, we analyze the relationship between data rate, corresponding transmission range and number of hops in AODV protocol and find the optimal data rate for AODV con...

Multi-Objective Cross-Layer Optimization with Pareto Method for Relay Selection in Multihop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

The focus of this paper is cross layer optimization of relay selection on multihop wireless ad hoc networks. Cross-layer metrics that will be optimized are power consumption, throughput, and load balancing in wireless ad hoc networks for the outdoor and indoor configurations. Those three resources (performance indicators) are optimized using the multi objective optimization with Pareto method. ...

Cross Layer Design for Routing and Security in Multi-hop Wireless Networks

Multi-hop wireless networks are facing some research issues regarding routing protocols and security mechanisms. Multihop decentralized architecture, media access delay, lower link life, and multi-layer security threats are the key challenges which need to be address. The selection of optimal path for routing and the detection of multilayer security attacks cannot be achieved with the tradition...
